I remember standing in the music store at five years old. My mom told me to pick an instrument and I pointed at a badass set of drums. Instead, I was forced to play piano, then flute. After five years as first chair with a Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade under my belt, I quit. At 15, I knew I couldn’t build my life around a skill I never wanted.
The musical years that followed included choir, recording an EP, a live cover “band,” and hours spent digging for music online. I’ve curated playlists for friends and a brand here and there. But I’m finally releasing the aux cord and officially learning how to DJ.
New Moons mark a period of release. It’s a time to set intentions, reevaluate and let go. On July 31st, I did just that. New Moon is the result. Enjoy.
